Our joy and miseries are same

When I see our –
Pride and ego
Insecurity and jealousy
Anger and aggression
Revenge and scheming
I realize –
Our survival tendencies are same
Our desperate attempts are same
When I see us, I notice –
How we want many things from others,
Forgetting what others want from us
How we judge the attitudes of others,
Forgetting our attitude towards others
When I see us, I realize –
How we cling to our views and opinions
How we want friendship in our terms
How we demand love in our terms
How we lead communication in our terms
How we expect life in our terms
When I see us, I understand –
How we misunderstand each other
How we mistrust each other
How we fight with each other
How we destroy each other
Not realizing –
Our connection with each other

When comes to our own anger, emotional outbursts, madness, mistakes and clumsiness, we always find a way to justify and rationalize it. But when it happens to others, how easily we criticize, blame and condemn them! When it happens to us, it is natural or necessary thing to do, but not when it happens to others! This double standard mind of ours would only give us deep misery. Instead of criticizing, blaming and condemning others, may we develop understanding and compassion! May we accept people as they are!
